Lockdown Loungewear

Use loungewear to feel comfy and look clean, throughout the COVID-19 lockdown.

Thanks to a plethora of Instagram influencers, lockdown has officially rebranded loungewear. Now seen as fashionable, socially acceptable attire to leave the house in, it sure is a pity that for the first time in our lives, we can’t. Quarantines, online lectures, and working from home means that comfort is the priority, so here are a few tried and tested loungewear picks to help you survive lockdown #3 in style.

Bottoms

As someone who regularly struggles to find trousers that are long enough and fit properly, I have become quite the joggers connoisseur over the past year. I was delighted therefore to recently discover this absolute bargain on eBay. With a wide colour range, low price tag AND free delivery, I challenge you to find a more student-friendly staple. Featuring a discreet drawstring waistband, cuffed ankles, and an oversized fit, they are the ideal garment for those comfy days at home. My only criticism is the small size range, so take a look at this selection on ASOS for more variety.

If you’re after a more boujee loungewear option for lockdown, look no further than these iconic velour rhinestone bottoms from Juicy Couture. Also offered in a range of colours, you can radiate Britney Spears y2k vibes on your daily walk, and have your sibling take some insta-worthy pics whilst you’re at it. Though certainly less student-friendly than other options, these trousers are super cosy, and definitely a worthwhile investment.

For a more traditional street style look, these Firebird bottoms from Adidas are comfy and versatile. They are also available in both the men’s and women’s range, so there is an option for everyone. Claim your 10% ASOS student discount here.

A student staple for many – I doubt you’ll graduate having never seen one on campus – I had to give an honourable mention to the trusty quarter-zip. Fortunately our dads have been wearing these as loungewear for years, so for the vintage lovers among us, scour Depop and eBay to find a discounted designer gem. To truly embrace that new jumper feeling though, I recommend this Iets Frans number from Urban Outfitters. The fleece material is cosy and warm, keeping you going through those chilly revision mornings. It is also available in a few different colourways.

For fitness-friendly gear, this set from Under Armour is lightweight and breathable, without compromising on comfort.

A cosy hoodie is a staple regardless of lockdown, and this Carhartt one is my new loungwear fave. Not only does this link give you £13 off RRP (you’re welcome), but this hoodie is the perfect unisex item for the days you can’t be bothered to put an outfit together.

Footwear

Finally, some footwear.

2020 was the year of the puffer coat, who said the fun had to stop there? These funky slippers from ASOS provide warmth and comfort, and a slight platform sole if you’re really* missing wearing heels.

*Said no one, ever.

Unfortunately, you can’t all rep the personalised UoL sliders like me (shout out to LUNC), but these two picks are almost as good. Whether you channel your inner Grandpa and rock them with your socks in Tesco, or simply choose to protect your feet from the notoriously sticky student kitchen floors, sliders are always handy to have around. Who knows, maybe you’ll even be able to wear them in hotter climates if BoJo ever sets us free.
