Scouse fashion has always been unique and a staple to the fashion culture. From fashion icons like Philip Armstrong, Mark Melia and Francesca Couture, local designers and businesses need to be showcased!
Megan, the founder of Serendipity Vintage, located on Aigburth Road is hosting Liverpool’s independent and local created fashion week. Serendipity Vintage was created during Megan’s studies at the University of Liverpool, whilst she was studying Physical Geography, although she felt a craving for more of a creative side than what the degree gave her. By the near end of her degree, Megan started the fashion business, by sourcing 90s-00s Italian vintage from Red Brick Market in Liverpool. Her vision expanded to creating her very own shop on Aigburth Road.
The shop is based at Red Brick Market (7 days a week) and 98 Aigburth Road (Wednesday-Sunday) selling curated vintage and pre-loved items. Hosting an independent local vintage sellers event, located at Camp and Furnace (on the 11th October, 4-9pm), fashion designers are showcasing their collections on the catwalk and stalls. Audiences are invited to explore the collections and purchase items they love. Need help with styling items? You can spend time with stylists Alisha (@thefinanciallyfreedit_) and Chloe (styledbychloe.d) who can assist you with your styling needs. Or want to take home a souvenir? You can get matching bracelets with your besties and support local Liverpool creatives (@the charmgal and @destinedmagazine), whilst listening to Liverpool’s local music talent. Tickets are priced at £10.
We asked Megan a few questions about The City of Style event, and here is what she said:
“I have wanted to do a ‘vintage fashion show’ for a couple of years, it’s something that I’ve never seen done before. So since I’ve just opened my first bricks and mortar shop I felt the timing was right to build on my community. It’s going to be interactive to show everyone how to style different items, colours and patterns as I think that’s a barrier that stops people from shopping vintage. Making vintage accessible for everyone, both affordable and wearable is my aim.”
“As someone who grew up in Liverpool, I know how it is full of individuals with different personalities who are not afraid to be themselves. Liverpool gets onto fashion trends ahead of any other UK city in my opinion, so it’s almost as if we are in our own amazing fashion bubble at times. Whether it’s going to the club, pub, match or Tesco you’ll always catch a scouser in a fabulous outfit.”
“The event is going to be more of a fashion festival than just a fashion show. You can expect catwalks on throughout the night, with all the designers and vintage sellers selling their gorgeous items at stalls around the venue. So most of the items you see on the runway will be available to purchase on the night.

“Many fashion events can be quite exclusive and sometimes invite only. Whereas, at The City of Style everyone is welcome whether you love fashion or want to know more about it. This is all about community, and not just the fashion community but anyone who wants to bring cool ideas to Liverpool. Being in a room full of people who all want to dress the best, support each other and encourage the uprise of small business in Liverpool is something we need more of.”
“We have Tailor Made attending which is a neuroinclusive fashion community focused on the everyday realities of creative work: the studios, classrooms, digital spaces and environments where ideas take shape. Jess will be there to chat to about how to navigate the industry as someone neurodiverse.
Callie Therese Designs will be showing a collection on the catwalk drawing from scooters, alternative movements and the unmistakable spirit of scouse identity. Maiden of Psych is a vintage brand drawing on inspiration from 60s psychedelia, gothic victoriana, Edwardian and medieval influences. They will be showcasing an 8-piece revival collection which brings together vintage garments for a hammer horror queen or spectral entity.
Serendipity Vintage will be showcasing a series of 90s & 00s themed outfits with inspiration drawn from her childhood spent watching shows such as Hannah Montana and fighting the stereotype that our outfits need to ‘grow up’ with us! As well as sharing styling tips and how to layer items for A/W so we don’t over purchase.”
“My generation is full of aspirational people and we are constantly fighting with big corporations and fast fashion brands who are sucking the life out of the creativity in the world. It’s so important that we support our local creatives whether that be in music, fashion, photography, art etc now more than ever.”
“If you love all things fashion, need styling tips, want to be surrounded by aspirational people, make new friends or just have a good night out then you should attend.”
Megan has hopes of bringing all fashion lovers to one space to create a like-minded community. “I don’t want anyone to feel alone, we all deserve the chance to find our people in a welcoming space and Liverpool’s fashion scene is the best place to start. So by having everyone together in the one room, I’m hoping this event can bring us all together no matter whether you are in university or not, studying fashion or not. No matter your age, circumstances or background you’re welcome at The City of Style.”
