Freshers Listen UP: Here Are 7 Societies You Need to Join.

Everyone knows how societies are the most important clubs to be involved in during Uni: making friends, having a laugh and most importantly going out! But there are over 200+ societies to choose from, but low and behold, I have a few you need to keep a look out for!

Starting off with a hit: Bake Soc

Bake Society is a great way to start or improve your baking skills, from hosting low-cost events, they have popular events with a large membership. Their first event is cupcake making on the 01/10, tickets being £6. You can find out more here.

Next on the list… Cocktail Society

Liverpool is known for its amazing nightlife, but what a way to hit your first few weeks off with a night out with the Cocktail Society. They’re known to be Liverpool’s biggest party society for a reason! You can find out more here.

For the Scouse History books: The Beatles Society

The 4 lads from Liverpool really did make it, there is a Beatles Society. The Society hosts pub crawls, quizzes, film nights and everything Beatles related you can think so. The first pub crawl event for the year is taking place on the 10/10 from 8pm, starting from the Fly on Hardman Street. You can find out more about this society here.

For the Film Peeps: The Film Society.

From hosting many events a week, the Film Society is one of the most popular societies on campus. They host 2-3 film nights per week in the Guild’s famous cinema room. You can find out all of their events here.

For the Winners: UoL’s Women’s Health Society.

Women’s Health won the Guild’s New Society of the Year 2026, from organising many events supporting and educating people about women’s health. Their events include socials, crafts, films and fundraisers & anyone can join! You can find out all of their information here.

Best Society of the Year: Girls in Tech

Girls in Tech won Best Society of the Year at the Guild Awards 2026, their activities and society hosts impressive, aesthetic and CV-boosting events. They host events from craft nights, panels, to mentorship and bracelet making! You can find out more here.

And last but not least: Liverpool Guild Student Media.

LGSM is a society where you can build on your writing, podcast or radio skills, make new friends or attend their monthly events.
