The LGSM Smithdown Pub Crawl

After a four-month withdrawal from our favourite pubs and bars they have finally opened! So, what better way to spend a sunny afternoon on Smithdown than to embark on a boozy bar and pub crawl? Starting off on Penny Lane and ending up on Smithdown Road we visit some of our favourite places that have re-opened for outdoor drinking and eating so when the drunk hunger kicks in you’re sure to find something to satisfy your cravings. It is also a great way to give business to the pubs re-opening.

Dovedale Towers

Starting off at Dovedale Towers, situated on Penny Lane, this pub has a big outdoor seating area and a variety of drinks from beers to cocktails. If you are wanting to line your stomach before you commence they have a great selection of food with big portion sizes for the price too. I recommend the Vegan Club Sandwich which is £9 and includes chips. Remember to book here as they do not take walk-ins! Check out the menu and book here with this link.

Prices: ££ …(Each pub/bar has been rated in terms of how expensive it is with one pound sign being low to a more moderate pricing of a double pound sign.)

Penny Lane Wine Bar

The second stop is the Penny Lane Pub/Wine Bar. This is only a three-minute walk from the Dovedale Towers. They have a selection of cocktails, beers, and wines. If you’re feeling peckish they offer cheese boards for only £10. For any Aston Villa fans Ross Barkley has been spotted drinking here! You do not have to book here, walk-ins are welcome!

TriBeCa

Our third spot is TriBeCa a bar and grill on Smithdown Road. It has an insta-worthy outdoor seating area with fairy lights and booths – even if it rains it has a covering! It is a great place to watch the football and has amazing food and drinks. They have a happy hour from Sunday to Thursday which includes two of their marked cocktails or spritzes for £10! Make sure you pre-book your seats before you arrive by following this link.

The Brookhouse

Next on the list is the infamous Brookhouse, Smithdown’s hotspot for student drinking. There’s outdoor seating at the front as well as a huge outdoor seating area at the back. You can now enjoy your cider blacks and pitchers in the sun. Although they are excepting some walk-ins, to ensure you get into your fourth pub we recommend you book to avoid disappointment (book here). There is a £10 deposit required when placing your booking; however, you get it taken off your bill. My house’s favourites include: woo woo pitcher, cider black and bombay bramble gin.

Evil Eye Bar

Evil Eye Bar is one of my favourite places on Smithdown. I am so glad it has re-opened! They have transformed the back of the bar into a cute outdoor area with a fire to keep you warm. They have great cocktails and amazing Mexican food at a decent price. To book an outside space to avoid disappointment contact them via Instagram, Facebook or email them at evileyeliverpool@gmail.com.

The Willow Bank Tavern

Lastly on our bar/pub crawl is The Willow Bank Tavern. You can’t go wrong with a classic Greene King Pub! It is a very reasonably priced pub with a variety of drinks including an amazing selection of gins. They tend to have deals as well! If you are wanting to end your night with something to sober you up they have some delicious pub meals and snacks. Make sure you book your table here!
