Refugee Women Connect is dedicated to supporting all women in the asylum seeker and refugee community. Ten students at the University of Liverpool have committed themselves to raising funds for the women-only charity by setting up a UoL Fundraising Team.
Refugee Women Connect offers vital support to those going through the challenging asylum process. They tackle the inequality and lack of social justice that women asylum seekers and refugees face. They do this by providing much emotional and practical support and activities for those in need. From weekly drop-in centres to visiting Initial Accommodation Centres, RWC aim to assist women build safer lives in the UK.
The team of ten students have already pledged their support for RWC by organising their first fundraising opportunity. This takes the form of an International Women’s Day Talks event: Own Your Space. Attendees will hear from guest speakers with differing inspirational stories to tell. These strong women have backgrounds including sports, science, motherhood, business and more. The UoL Fundraising Team invite you to come along and ask any questions you may have.
