Five Tasty Takeaways To Try In Liverpool

As we a find ourselves in another lockdown we do not have the luxury to go out for dinner (insert sad face)! However, you can still cure the lockdown blues and treat yourself for getting through the January exams with a takeaway.

Here are five options to try in Liverpool if you are sick of your own cooking…

Mei Sum

Fancy a Chinese? Mei Sum is an independent Chinese takeaway situated on Smithdown Road. I have had Mei Sum a few times and it is amazing! My favourites from Mei Sum include: Mixed Vegetable Chow Mein which is only £4.50 for a huge portion. I also love the Vegetable Spring Rolls which are £2.40 for four. Finally, it is not a Chinese without Salt and Pepper Chips (a newfound favourite of mine since I moved to Liverpool!), they are £2.20 and again you get a lot for your money.

Mei Sum can be ordered from Just Eat. You do have to spend over £10 and there is a £1 delivery fee; however, this Chinese is definitely worth a try!

Taco Bell

When I moved to Liverpool I was excited to try Taco Bell as there isn’t one back home. As a result, I had to try to see what the hype was about and I can certainly say why there is such a hype! I ordered the Chalupa Supreme meal (£6) for two soft shell tacos which have an option of fillings including beef, chicken, black beans or plant-based protein. As well, you get a soft drink and a portion of regular seasoned fries. It is so tasty!

What I also love about Taco Bell is their bundles! The delicious bundles are perfect for sharing with your house/flat mates. For example at the moment they are offering Crunchwrap Craving Meal for two which includes; Two beef Crunchwrap Supremes, two Soft Beef Tacos, two regular Seasoned Fries with Nacho Cheese Sauce and two portions of Cinnamon Twists. For only £15 it is a perfect sharing box for that hangover cure!

Taco Bell is available to order from Deliveroo. The minimum spend is £7 and there is a £2.99 delivery fee.

Archie’s

When we were allowed out between lockdowns I visited Archie’s in the city centre. Unfortunately we cannot currently experience the pink diner in real life; however, we can have the next best thing with a takeaway!

I recommend the Superstar Burger, which consists of two smashed patties, cheese, tomato, lettuce, and Archie’s Special Sauce! It is a bit on the pricey side at £7.69, but it is totally worth it and a well-deserved treat post exams. In addition, it can be paired with their infamous Crinkle-Cut Fries which are £2.20. A perfect combo!

You can order Archies from Uber Eats (£3.29 delivery fee).

Midnight Delivery

It you are craving something sweet this is hands down the best desert takeaway in Liverpool. My housemates and I love Midnight Delivery and are guilty of ordering it many times!

You have to order one of their cookie doughs – I have tried the Galaxy Caramel, Malteser Bunny, Crispy Roll, and the Vegan one. These are only a small selection and I was astonished at the variety of other options! The delicious cookie dough is topped with the chocolate of your choice for £6.50. They can be shared since they are extremely rich and decent portion sizes, which makes it cheaper for us skint students!

Another favourite of mine is their Kinder Bueno Milkshake. It is very thick, full of flavour, and has large chunks of Kinder Bueno in it! Again, it is pricey for £6.50 but it is honestly one of the best milkshakes I have had.

You can order Midnight Delivery through their app and it is a £10 minimum spend. Whilst you wait for your cookie dough goodness to arrive check out their Instagram!

One To Look Forward To…

Little Furnace

I have heard great things about this takeaway and I’m looking forward to when it re-opens. It is an independent pizza parlour situated on Smithdown Road specialising in wood-oven pizzas.

Looking at the menu everything seems amazing. The pizza prices start from £6.50 and there is a vegan menu as well. Say goodbye to Dominoes and try out this independent takeaway in the near future.

Follow their Instagram for more updates of their re-opening.
