New Launches for the Festive Season

I think we can all agree 2020 has not been the best year! However, this year’s newest editions to some of our favourite food and drink spots can give us the 2020 festive season we deserve.

Who doesn’t love a Gingerbread Latte or a Pigs in Blanket Baguette?

McDonalds

Are you #ReindeerReady for McDonald’s new Christmas menu? Whether it’s to cure your hangovers, you want a change to your usual McNugget meal or just an excuse to avoid your pasta awaiting in your university cupboard, the new Christmas menu has something for you.

Christmas has come early with the Double Big Mac. Twice as big and twice as delicious (and twice the gherkins if that’s your thing!). You can now enjoy a bigger version of your old favourite.

The next contender from McDonalds is the Jamaican Jerk Chicken Sandwich. Taking a twist on our old favourites the chicken selects, this sandwich is loaded with spicy jerk sauce, bacon, and pepper jack cheese. To go alongside these new festive meals, McDonalds has now released Cheese Melt Dippers (which are amazing)!

Finally, let’s celebrate with the new Celebrations McFlurry! We all love Celebrations at this time of the year. We can now enjoy them with a McFlurry, starting at 99p. I am sure this dessert will not disappoint.

Prices: Double Big Mac (£4.19 single), Jamaican Jerk Chicken Sandwich (£4.39), Cheese Melt Dippers (£1.79), Celebrations McFlurry (Starting from 99p).

Available from the 18th Novemeber.

Costa Coffee

Furthermore, to brighten up your daily walks or if you are in need of a coffee break from studying, Costa Coffee has combined our festive favourite chocolates with their classic drinks range this year.

Starting with the iconic Terry’s Chocolate Orange Hot Chocolate which takes the signature Costa Coffee Hot Chocolate and adds orange syrup with a glittery finish. The best part about it is this drink comes with a Terry’s Chocolate Orange segment. It is not Christmas without Terry’s Chocolate Orange!

If you are a fan of the Purple Quality Street, you are in for a treat! Costa has released a festive twist on its classic Latte adding roasted hazelnut syrup and caramel chocolate sauce. This festive drink will surely brighten up those dreary library sessions.

The third drink to this festive trio is the After Eight Hot Chocolate, taking another classic Christmas chocolate and combining it with the signature Costa Coffee Hot Chocolate, with a dash of peppermint syrup and a creamy finish. Something a bit different to try this festive season!

These drinks will go alongside the other Costa Christmas classics such as; Gingerbread & Cream Latte, Black Forest Hot Chocolate, Irish Velvet, and Spiced Apple Cappuccino. Plenty for you to try this Christmas.

Prices: Terry’s Chocolate Orange Hot Chocolate (£4.05), Quality Street The Purple One Latte (£4.05), After Eight Hot Chocolate (£4.05).

Available from the 3rd of November.

Greggs

For all you Gregg fans out there you are in for a treat. Get yourself into the festive spirit with their delicious new releases!

Back by popular demand, Greggs have released their iconic Festive Bake. It is like a roast dinner in pastry. Filled with chicken, stuffing, bacon, and cranberry sauce with a crumb topping. This is a perfect on-the-go lunch.

Another twist on a festive favourite is the Pigs in Blanket Baguette. If you are looking for something a bit more filling this is perfect. The crispy baguette is packed with sausages, bacon, pork and onion stuffing and topped with cranberry and port sauce. I know exactly where I am heading after this lockdown!

We all know Greggs have a great selection of vegan foods (the iconic Greggs vegan sausage roll says it all). This year they have done it again with their Vegan Sweet Mince Pies. This pastry contains sweet mincemeat made from vine fruit, apples, orange, and lemon peel. Greggs has something for everyone this Christmas!

Prices: Festive Bake (£1.60), Pigs in Blanket Baguette (£2.80), Vegan Sweet Mince Pies (From 50p).

Starbucks

Starbucks have done it again with their Christmas menu this year, including returning favourites and a brand new hot chocolate drink. Perfect for your instagram stories!

Starting with our old festive favourite, the Toffee Nut Latte. It takes the signature Starbucks expresso combined with toffee nut syrup and sprinkles. If you don’t fancy the Latte version, it can be made into a Frappuccino, iced drink. This drink can also be served with almond, soy, or coconut milk.

Gingerbread and Eggnog Lattes are also part of the returning favourites. The Gingerbread Latte is an expresso mixed with gingerbread syrup topped with crunchy wafers and cream. Again, this is available as a Frappuccino, iced drink, and can be served with vegan milk substitutes. If you want something a bit different the Eggnog Latte combines eggnog with the classic Expresso.

Finally, the new release of 2020…

For all you chocolate fiends, the Truffle Deluxe Hot Chocolate is a tasty blend of milk, chocolate mocha and whipped cream with chocolate truffle topping. This chocolate show stopper is sure to get you in the Christmas spirit.

Prices: Toffee Nut Latte (£3.15), Gingerbread Latte (£3.15), Eggnog Latte (£3.15), Truffle Deluxe Hot Chocolate (£3.10).

Available from the 4th of November.
