One Fine Roast @ One Fine Day, Liverpool | Review

Located on Old Hall Street, near Moorfields train station and the Princess Dock, sits OH ME OH MY’s sister venue, One Fine Day. Last Saturday, One Fine Day opened their doors up for a special tasting of their latest menu addition, their ultimate One Fine Roast. Here’s what I thought about their ‘One Fine Roast,’ which launches this Sunday, 2nd February.

Note: Contents of this review is based off a general visit with no dietary requirements or needs – if you have any, contact the venue beforehand or include it in the details of your booking, so they can provide alternatives.

The Vibe and Venue

Set in their stunning event’s room, the space for Sunday dining is spacious with the perfect atmosphere containing light, upbeat music and soft lighting. The room contains a fully stocked bar which works perfectly for the dining style. We were greeted and treated by incredibly friendly staff who were very attentive and helpful.

The room will contain tables and chairs fitted to the amount of bookings on the day, with two huge tables containing the starters and desserts.

Starters

To start, we made our way over to the feasting table which included an array of different starters which you could pick from and have as much as you could, which is excellent to have so many choices. Although, you wouldn’t want to fill up on this part as you still have the roast to come!

Dishes on the feasting table included bruschetta, pate’s, basil infused melon balls, Roquefort salad, Waldorf salad, focaccia bread, beetroot hummus with carrots and celery, salmon and oysters to name a few! The selection is amazing – I had the brushchetta, focaccia, oysters and melon balls. Each dish tasted so fresh and full of flavour, it certainly exceeded my expectations.

One Fine Roast

For the One Fine Roast, you can order either a butter roast free-range chicken, roast sirloin beef or home-made nut roast. I opted for the chicken, which was so succulent and tasty, and I also tried the beef which was rich in flavour, it was complimented well with the proper gravy (it isn’t just for show, the proper gravy really is proper gravy).

Each meal comes served with crispy roast potatoes, carrot and turnip puree, tenderstem broccoli and of course, the proper gravy. The Tower of Yorkshires come on the side, which for any Yorkshire pudding fan is amazing, as you don’t have to rely on one to satisfy your Yorkshire pudding needs! The food was nice and hot and the portion size was just about right. I would’ve liked to have seen an extra piece of broccoli or even swap a roast potato for a parsnip to add another dimension to the meal. There are additional sides on offer for £4 each, but we didn’t get any as we wanted to save room for dessert!

Dessert

To round off the meal, we headed to the dessert table which held a variety of different cakes with toppings to add on the side, such as fresh fruit and honeycomb. The cake selection included; lemon and poppy seed drizzle, chocolate cake, biscotti, peanut butter and blueberry, and lastly pistachio and orange. I had a piece of the lemon and poppy seed drizzle and tried a piece of the blueberry. Both cakes were bursting with flavour and the sizes were immense!

Final thoughts of the meal…

Once washing our food down with some drinks, we left One Fine Day with a belly full of great food and drinks. The atmosphere of the venue, the kind staff and amazing food all contributed to making the perfect roast dinner experience.

The price of the 3-course-meal is £25 for an adult and £8.50 for a child (up to 12 years).
