Situated in the culture capital of Liverpool, brand-new Mexican taqueria, Madre, opened its right Royal Albert Dock doors to the public last week.
With a striking neon pink sign, Madre attracts guests with an elegant aesthetic and a modern twist that follows into its interior and fresh menu.
The venue’s capacity for 100 people hosts casual drinks and bar snacks on the ground floor, a more formal sit-down eatery upstairs, and a wholly vibrant atmosphere across both levels.
Mexican traditions inspire Madre’s menu, recalling the comforting origins of its name (translated from Spanish as ‘Mother’) whilst infusing a tasty twist on taco norms.
Bearing in mind that there are plenty of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options also available, examples of the new menu include:
Pork Al Pastor – Spit roast marinated pork, pineapple, chile de arbol, salsa verde
Hongos con Chipotle – Deep fried mushroom, chipotle aoli, roasted pasilla chile, salsa negra
Pollo Pibil – Yucatan style slow cooked chicken, achiote, orange, habanero, pickled red onions
And dishes to share:
Contramar Style Sea Bass a la Talla – Grilled butterflied sea bass, salsa verde, salsa roja
Carne Asada – Charcoal grilled steak, aged native breed wing rib, burnt spring onion, jalapenos, beef jus, and bone marrow
To go alongside these tasty dishes are a wide range of craft beers, natural wines, and an extensive list of margaritas designed by the team behind Liverpool-loved Belzan and Volpi.
Madre has also tailored a late-night snack selection for those weekend festivities and will be served until the bar closes at 2am.
If you fancy yourself a foodie then head down to Liverpool’s stunning waterfront and try Madre’s own mouth-watering menu.
