Can you sum up your campaign in under 10 words?
Improving students living and learning conditions.
What made you decide to run for officer?
Fundamentally, I decided to run for Officer to make a positive difference to students’ lives.
As a working-class student, I experienced first-hand the impact that the cost-of-living crisis has had on students. I saw how financial pressures can shape every aspect of university life — from housing and food security to academic performance and wellbeing. I wanted to drive meaningful change within the University to ensure that every student, regardless of background, has the support they need to thrive during their time in Liverpool.
Additionally, my involvement in on-campus politics opened my eyes to the increasing marketisation of higher education. Seeing education treated more like a commodity than a public good strengthened my determination to run for Guild Officer. I wanted to represent students’ interests, challenge decisions that disadvantage them, and advocate for a more accessible, student-centred university experience.
How have you been involved with the Guild during your time at uni?
I think you could say I jumped in at the deep end with the Guild from the minute I arrived In Liverpool !
In my first year I campaigned in the Guilds UCU Referendum in support of striking staff, I helped lead the Guilds 2021 BDS Referendum advocating for the rights of Palestinians alongside being active in several societies and supporting Guild Election Campaigns. In my second year I took on society committee positions and continued to be active in on-campus Politics then becoming chair of the Guilds Socialist Labour Students in my third year and being elected Vice President of the Guild !
What’s your favourite spot in Liverpool?
Has to be Sefton Park !
