Can you sum up your campaign in under 10 words?
Practical change. Lower costs. A Guild that actually listens.
What made you decide to run for officer?
Over the last three years I’ve spoken to a lot of students about their experience at university – through societies, student media, and just everyday conversations on campus. The same issues come up again and again: the cost of living, transport costs, and wanting the Guild to feel more connected to students’ real concerns.
I decided to run because I believe the role should be about delivering practical, achievable changes that students actually notice. My campaign focuses on realistic policies that improve day-to-day student life, rather than vague promises.
But beyond my policies, what matters most to me is listening. If I’m elected, my role is to represent students – whether their concerns are on my manifesto or not – and make sure their voices are heard by the university.
How have you been involved with the Guild during your time at uni?
I’ve been involved with the Guild in a number of different ways during my time at university. I served as Radio Chair for Liverpool Guild Student Media, where I helped run the station, train new members, and organise broadcasts around Guild activities and events. That role gave me a really good understanding of how Guild systems work behind the scenes and how student opportunities are organised. I also ran everyone’s favorite Friday night pres show Sol-O-Vision.
I am also part of the Mini Spend It Panel, where societies apply for funding. Being involved in that process gave me a valuable insight into the needs and challenges societies face, and how important funding and support are to helping them thrive.
Alongside that, I’ve always been very involved socially with societies across campus. I’ve attended and taken part in a wide range of socials, from Engineering Football and Engineering Rugby to Liv Snow Society, Comms and Media Society, Orthoptics Society, Poker Society and Medicine Society. Through that I’ve had the chance to meet students from lots of different courses and communities, which has given me a broad understanding of student life across the university.
All of those experiences together have helped me understand how the Guild supports students, societies, and the wider campus community.
What’s your favourite spot in Liverpool?
The Sphinx beer garden when the weather’s good. It’s one of those places where you’ll randomly run into people you know, sit outside with friends, and forget you’ve got deadlines coming up.
If I’m not there, then probably St Peter’s Tavern or the White Hart – both classics.
