Aim is to Progress
What made you decide to run for officer?
As a first-year student at the University of Liverpool, I have already experienced many challenges and opportunities that inspired me to bring positive change. As a visually impaired student, my main aim is to make our university more accessible for everyone. From academic study to social spaces, everything should be accessible so that all students, regardless of background or ability, can fully participate.
I have been regularly giving suggestions to the Democracy Team on how to improve accessibility so that students from all backgrounds can take part in university activities. I have also noticed that many bright students struggle financially after coming to university. I would like to introduce or advocate for more scholarship opportunities and financial support options.
Additionally, I believe we need to improve employability support by arranging more workshops and one-to-one guidance sessions. Every student deserves equal opportunities and freedom of speech, regardless of their background.
I am currently a Student Representative for Diversity, Equality and Inclusion within the School of Environmental Sciences. I strongly believe in strengthening diversity, equality and inclusion across the university. In particular, we must ensure proper policies and discipline to prevent any form of sexual harassment and ensure all students, especially female students, feel safe on campus.
I also hope to see our university ranked within the top 50 in the QS World Rankings by 2030. To implement these ideas, I believe holding this Officer position will allow me to begin structured and meaningful progress. Change takes time, but I am committed to initiating these improvements so that every student can achieve 100% academic success.
How have you been involved with the Guild during your time at uni?
I became involved with the Guild almost immediately after enrolling. On 23rd September 2025, I faced an issue with my bank account and needed emergency support. The International Desk directed me to the Guild, where I received a £25 loan. That experience marked the beginning of my journey with the Guild, and since then I have remained actively involved.
